We do not conserve something we don’t care about. We don’t care about something we know nothing about.
Education is perhaps the biggest key to conservation – and here at the centre we do our best to make education fun and crucially, unforgettable! Whether we’re talking about Barn Owls and their relationship with climate change, or Kestrels and farmland biodiversity, we’re passionate about inspiring thoughts through free flight.
Education at the Centre
Children’s Conservation Workshops – Classroom learning not doing it for your family? Join us in the school holidays for practical based nature learning – from flying owls to building wildlife habitats, our 6-11s Children’s Workshops are a great way to engage with nature, have fun and try something different!
Planning a visit to the centre for a larger group? Contact us at info@birdofpreyproject.org for more information about booking your educational visit:
- School trips for up to 60 children – practical based wildlife learning with real birds of prey – sessions guided by our fantastic team.
- Scouts, Brownies or Children’s clubs – Activity trails and a discounted entrance fee is a great way to make learning about raptors and wildlife fun – especially when you line up your visit with a flying display.
- Professional or university level education – contact us to book a practical, seated or combined educational visit – from avian husbandry in veterinary care, wildlife rehabilitation, primary education and more.
- Speaking events – both on and offsite venues – be inspired by some of the hot topics in wildlife conservation and how they impact our day to day lives. Contact us to book a speaker.
We are proud to offer a training and continued professional development package for career starters as part of our volunteer programme – find out more here (link to volunteer page), or email info@birdofpreyproject.org to book work experience.
Education for Schools
Making education accessible for all is crucially important for us – even if your school can’t make it out to the centre for a trip, we are pleased to provide the following free of charge to UK public schools as part of our services as a charity:
- Zoom with the owls! Join us for a 20-minute zoom session with two of our owls and one of our team members to learn about their lives in the wild and have your questions answered live on screen. Contact info@birdofpreyproject.org to book.
